Worldly Interference

Worldly Interference

The year was 1994. My loving husband was the Youth Pastor at our home church in beautiful South Carolina. Two of our young boys in our group were having trouble in their home, and their parents were threatening to send them to Juvenile if they didn't straighten up. Neither of these boys were any trouble in our youth group or in our home on the weekends for youth gatherings. God laid it on my husband and my heart to take these boys into our home and try to help them with God's Word instead of the world's system.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when

he is old, he will not depart from it.

In our home, we homeschooled our children, so in helping these boys, by the South Carolina code, we had to get temporary custody of these boys. We went through the lawyer to draw up the papers and pay the costs involved. The papers were set in such a way that after ten months the boys would be re-evaluated to see if custody could go back to the parents.

The first month the boys were with us, God worked on these boys’ hearts. One was called to preach, and the other accepted God's free gift of salvation. Their attitudes were improving, and they were showing promising progress.

Proverb 23:13-14

Withhold not correction from the child: for [if] thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.

Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.

The day finally came down to proceed with the final adoption which was to carry out for ten months. When we arrived to finish the papers, the boys’ parents got scared and wanted to stop the proceedings due to family interferences and worldly point of views. In turn, these boys went back home to their parents.

1 Peter 4:4

“Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:”

When you are working for God and trying to follow His Word you will find that your friends and family will think you are a strange bird. We don't party with them, we don't run to their hangouts and we don't even dress as they do at the beach.

Ephesians 2:10

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Our way of life and our teachings are contrary to their fleshly desires and in turn they will not want to be around you. Let God work through you in your life.

2 Corinthians 3:2

“Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:”
