Watching and Waiting

Watching and Waiting

Mark 13:35-37

Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

I have recently watched a show, which really touched my heart. It was called Hatchie. It was a true story of a dog who waited daily, patiently at the train station for his deceased master to return.

This got me thinking, we are to be watching and patiently waiting for our Master’s return, Christ.

Matthew 25:13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

1 Thessalonians 5:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

Hatchie waited 10 years, every day at that station, until he died, and in the story, his master came and took Him home, in death. Are we waiting so eagerly for our Master. Are we diligently, doing His will.

1 Corinthians 16:13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.

I remember a song it goes something like this….watch ye therefore, you know not the day, when the Lord will call your soul away…

We don’t know when, but we are to watch!

Matthew 24:42-44 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

Revelation 22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
